A watercolor sketch from my looking at art series at the exquisite exhibit, Vigée Le Brun: Woman Artist in Revolutionary France, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This show inspired me in so many ways. Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun was painting at a time when women weren’t allowed to attend art school, but that didn’t stop her from becoming one of the finest portrait artists of 18th century France. Don’t miss this beautiful show if you’re in NYC. It runs through May 15, 2016.
