Floral Color Palette Decor Inspiration
The vibrant pinks and blue-greens of this floral artwork would perfectly compliment shabby chic, cottage style or any pretty, feminine interior decor.
Painting Tutorial
Follow my painting process from beginning to end in the images below.
Original Source
My bouquet of ranunculus were getting too droopy for their large vase, so I snipped off the blooms and put them in this little handmade ceramic cup.
Value Study
I always like to begin with a value study. Working quickly in black and white watercolor helps me to capture the subject’s tonal range and imagine colors not in the original scene.
Quick Color Sketch
Here I plot out my colors and values in watercolor. The white background of the original scene is filled in with shades of teal and light green.
Painting on the iPad
Desiring brighter opaque colors, I decided to paint the final version on my iPad, using the ProCreate App.
Final Painting
In the final version, I’ve painted the table a soft pale yellow with lavender shadows and brightened the teal background. See it in the shop.
